SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Zekelman Industries is the largest independent steel pipe manufacturer in North America. The company hires employees in four locations between Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The company produces pipes and tubing that can be used as low pressure gas lines or overhead sprinkler systems. The company invested $100 million in Wheatland Tube and $42 million in Sharon Tube.
“These projects are designed to make the new equipment more efficient, and we really need a new level of personnel to manage and operate this new equipment,” said Sharon Tube CEO Tim Feeney.
The Wheatland Tube Company was founded in 1877 and the Sharon Tube Company in 1930. They have been owned by the same owner, Zekelman Industries, for over a decade. The fourth generation of workers now works in the building. There are even vacancies for production workers.
“We would not be as successful as we are today without each of our employees doing what they do every day,” said Rachel Seifert of Zekelman Industries.
