Benteler announces a $21 million expansion into northwest Louisiana that will create 49 new jobs.

Shreveport, Louisiana – Benteler Pipe Manufacturing, a leading global metalworking expert, announced it is expanding its operations at the Port of Caddo-Bossier with the construction of a new hot-rolled seamless steel pipe threading facility. The $21 million investment will enable the company to optimize supply chains for clients in the oil and gas, energy and engineering sectors.
The company expects to create 49 new jobs while maintaining 347 existing positions at its Louisiana operations. The Louisiana Department of Economic Development estimates the project will create 96 new indirect jobs, for a total of 145 potential new jobs in the Northwest.
“Economic development projects like this not only benefit our state’s economy through investment and job creation, but also support our state’s critical industries,” said LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. “I commend Benteler for recognizing and leveraging Louisiana’s unique business advantages, such as our port system and skilled manufacturing workforce, and reaffirming his commitment to our state and its people.”
The company plans to partner with leading connection specialists GB Connections and Hunting to provide customers in the oil and gas industry with seamless products designed, smelted, manufactured and finished seamless products.
“I am pleased that we are expanding our vertical integration of Oil Country Tubular Good products with this threading facility in Shreveport,” said Kai Christian Zimmermann, executive vice president, Steel/Tube North America, Benteler. “This will allow us to get even closer to our end customers and dealers. This reflects our ongoing commitment to the industry and the region. Together with our partners, we will be able to deliver the finished casing directly from the factory to the drilling site. to reach the Mid-Continent and Rocky Mountain region more competitively.”
Benteler opened its first U.S. steel pipe plant in Shreveport in 2015, and it remains one of the most modern of its kind in North America. The company currently produces a variety of products, with a special focus on oilfield pipes. The Shreveport plant’s primary products include drill pipe, tubing, line pipe, structural pipe, couplings and casing.
Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of April and will take place in two phases. The first phase will include the installation of a primary threading line, primarily for threaded and coupling connections, expansion of the finished product warehouse, increased rail capacity and infrastructure improvements. The second project will expand the facility and allow for the installation of a second thread production line. The second line is expected to be operational at the end of 2026.
“The City of Shreveport is encouraged by Benteler’s expansion announcement,” said Shreveport Mayor Tom Arsenault. “This will enhance Benteler’s operations and add much-needed, well-paid jobs to the local economy.”
Seamless pipes are better able to withstand high pressure and highly corrosive environments, such as those found in the oil and gas industry, because they do not have welds, which can become weak links in these conditions. These materials are also often used to transport liquids such as water, natural gas, waste and air.
“This expansion of Benteler Pipe demonstrates the company’s commitment to the Port of Caddo-Bossier,” said Bill Altimus, Chairman of the Caddo-Bossier Parish Port Commission. “Tenant relationships and job creation are top priorities for the port and there will be 49 new jobs created across the two parishes we serve. The Caddo Bossier Port Commission and our support team look forward to working with Benteler Pipe Company. Cooperate on this matter. all future endeavors.”
To win the Shreveport project, the State of Louisiana offered Benteler a competitive incentive package that included LED FastStart’s comprehensive workforce development solution. The company is also expected to take part in the government’s Quality Jobs program.
“Bentler’s continued growth and expansion in Caddo-Bossier Harbor is a sign of a healthy northwest Louisiana business ecosystem,” said Justin Dixon, president and CEO of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership. “We are very excited about this announcement and the future of Bentler and Caddo-Bossier Port.”
